JW Literature Trolleys Don't Carry the Book Of Mormon
by Athanasius inthis morning the jws set up two literature trolleys at our local shopping centre.
the trolleys were situated within 20 feet of each other with six jws attending them.
why they needed six jws on hand i have no idea as everyone was ignoring them.. anyway i thought i'd have some fun.

I think this is pretty funny, and I can see lots of variations on this game:
* ask for a copy of "Dianetics" by L. Ron Hubbard
* greet them with "Hare Krishna!"
* tell them you've been thinking of getting a couple of cases of their latest book and distributing it from door-to-door.
* ask if they would be willing to display some Amway or Tupperware products for you.
* Ask them what their commission structure is like and how you can "get in on the deal."

DEATH: How have you prepared? Funeral, cremation, donate body to Science?
by TerryWalstrom inwell, hell!.
i had dizzy spells and near-fainting and nausea for a few days, so why wouldn't i start thinking about death, ya know?.
am i just very lax in my responsibilities in having no plans at all?isn't that irresponsible?

"Donating your body to science" requires preparation.
WHO, for example do you mean by "science"? The weird kid down the street or a SPECIFIC INSTITUTION who are seeking this kind of "donation"?
[UPS guy at a receptionist's desk]: "...and please sign for this corpse. I'm double-parked."
For example, the Tennessee Body Farm has a set of documents that have to be filled out before the donor dies; they do not accept "walk-ins."
The Sea of Cortez between Baja Mexico and Mexico is the home to giant squid who would enjoy a contribution. The trick is getting the entre there. Cthulhu fhtagn!

MANY years ago I made arrangements that will cover my cremation because, you know, "time and unforeseen ocurance..."
I thought about the Tennessee Body Farm but decided no.
A person's decisions will (*might*?) be influenced by things like spouses, children, friends and family.
Note that I did not specify if those influences would be "positive" or "negative". Not that it matters a whole lot, 'cause we won't be here to witness the fallout of our decisions.
But I think it is POLITE to not leave a big ugly mess for anyone to clean up, literally or figuratively.

May 22 1969 Awake!
by zeb in"if you are a young person you need to face the fact you will never grow old in this system of things.. why not?
because all the evidence in fulfilment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years...as a young person you will never fulfil any career that this system offers".

So my husband got a letter
by Lost his mind inso, he received a letter that i am wondering if it is one of those open letters that are out there to denote time given.
it starts out with the name of the person sending it, then goes into the spiel...do you know our god's name?
when i was shown what it is, i kind of got upset.

Yes, the "details" of such situations are difficult, if not impossible to know.
As I'm thinking about it, I can recall at least two such situations that I was aware of in the vicinity of my NYC congregation.
The first was the daughter of a new elder. This was during the post-1968 years. I knew the girl and her family. It seemed out of nowhere that she and a *much* older brother were "keeping company." Probably her father felt that it was silly for her to get involved with a guy near her age when this old guy could offer her security. She developed cancer and died tragically young. Too bad there'll be no resurrection for her.
The second was an odd situation. A guy who went to Bethel for a couple of years to avoid the US military draft started making the circuit of NYC congregations, obviously looking for a connection. This guy was at least a little bit of a narcissist, he didn't meet his "goals" in hours, etc, and seemed to have no interest in "reaching out" or building a career. He found a girl who was a few notches over what he was worth, but she was in a vulnerable situation. She went our with him because he was different from the other Bethelite Wolf-Men and he was interesting in some ways. Then her elders started talking some sense to her about why was she with this loser? She started having doubts and tried to end their engagement, and Brother "I'm a Bethelite!" BLACKMAILED her into going through with it, saying he would drag her to a judicial committee and get her disfellowshipped for "leading him on" and "toying with his affections!" So the got married. Brother Loser was unable to support his family and his wife in desperation to get out of the abusive marriage, had an affair.
She got disfellowshipped but ended up happy and he lives in a van down by the river, spiritually speaking.
There was another "elder's daughter" story similar to the first, but without the tragic ending. Young, attractive daughter, horny older "theocratic man," Dad shakes his hand and says "take her."
Daughters are the property of their fathers under Mosaic Law, right? ...and JWs are still under the Law, even though they might claim otherwise.

Spiral, can you divulge any details of that situation?
Girl's age?
Guy's age?
Was the girl pleased with the situation?
Was the guy a bridge ogre or a Bethelite who had "manly NEEDS"?
How long did the relationship last?
Did love ever "come to town"?
It's OK to talk, it's just us...

"The Listener" asked,
What is the suggested punishment for breaking this proposed law?
I don't know -- maybe being forced to try having a conversation with YOU?
